Hebei Expands Green Hydrogen Investment as CGN's CNY 754 Million Project Enters Public Consultation

Hebei, China — Hebei Province has taken another step toward accelerating its green hydrogen industry through a combination of new policy support and project development. The provincial government has released a new list of investment funds targeting strategic emerging industries, while China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) has advanced a RMB 754 million (approximately USD 105 million) integrated wind-solar hydrogen production project into the public consultation stage.

 

The two developments reflect growing momentum behind renewable hydrogen deployment in northern China and underscore the country's broader efforts to expand low-carbon energy infrastructure and industrial decarbonization.

 

Hebei Introduces New Investment Funds for Green Hydrogen and Emerging Industries

 

Hebei recently released its latest catalogue of government-backed investment funds, introducing dedicated financial support for strategic emerging industries, including renewable energy, green hydrogen, advanced manufacturing and low-carbon technologies.

 

The funding initiative is designed to attract private capital, accelerate technology commercialization and support high-quality industrial development across the province. CGN Advances Integrated Wind-Solar Hydrogen Project

 

At the same time, China General Nuclear Power Group (CGN) has moved forward with one of Hebei's largest renewable hydrogen projects by launching the public consultation process for its integrated wind-solar hydrogen production project.

 

The project represents a planned investment of RMB 754 million and combines renewable power generation with water electrolysis to produce green hydrogen. Once completed, the facility is expected to provide a stable supply of renewable hydrogen for industrial applications while supporting the wider adoption of low-carbon energy solutions across the region.

 

Located in Hebei Province, the project forms part of CGN's broader strategy to integrate renewable electricity generation with hydrogen production, creating a cleaner and more flexible energy system capable of supporting long-term industrial decarbonization.

 

According to the project documents, renewable electricity generated by wind and solar facilities will power electrolyzers that produce green hydrogen. The hydrogen will then be supplied to downstream industrial users, helping replace fossil fuel-based hydrogen in manufacturing and other hard-to-abate sectors.

 

CGN Project Combines Renewable Power with Green Hydrogen Production
